Best Aviation iPad/iPhone Apps
These are, in our opinion, the best aviation apps for Australian pilots. There are a lot of apps that work well in the USA but are not functional in Australia.
This list is far from exhaustive, but these are my favourite go to apps that have seen me through plenty of trips without fail.
AvPlan EFB
AvPlan EFB iPad App or iPhone App for excellent planning and has weather integrated.
Willy Weather
For fast weather with lots of visual information.
NAIPS
NAIPS – for ARFOR, NOTAM, SIGMET and status of restricted airspace.
LiveATC
LiveATC for learning to listen to ATC or general radio communications.
Zulu Time
UTC to Local time conversion, fast and easy to use and reduces mistakes.
OzRunways EFB
For everything, OzRunways EFB, more intuitive than AvPlan, easier to use inflight when route needs changing.
Flightradar24
FlightRadar24 – Free or paid version, allows you to see any GA aircraft anywhere virtually. You can even point your phone at an aircraft and it will tell you what it is and where it is flying.
Weatherzone
Weatherzone (paid, approx. $2) – For an absolutely excellent weather, wind plus warnings app. Has an iPhone and iPad app.
RAIN
For extremely fast weather radars images.
